Benjámin Diószegi studied at the University Mozarteum Salzburg from 2019 to 2024, where he worked with Prof. Cordelia Höfer-Teutsch and Prof. Donald Sulzen. During this time, under the guidance of prof. univ. dr. Adriana Bera, he also pursued studies at the Doctoral School of the ANMGD Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca where he conducted research into the piano works and Études of György Ligeti.
In 2025, he performed at the Mozart Festival in Cluj-Napoca and, that same year, participated in a workshop organized by the VIP Academy in Vienna. In April 2026, he was invited to undertake a recital tour of the United States, performing in New York and Tucson, Arizona. His playing is distinguished by virtuosity, sensitivity, and a highly refined sense of timbre.
In 2019, Diószegi performed Franz Liszt’s complete cycle of twelve Études d’exécution transcendante in a single piano recital in Rome. From September 2019 to July 2022, he served as a university lecturer in music at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, where he taught piano.
Following his experience as a university lecturer in Transylvania, Diószegi continued his career as a piano pedagogue at the private Piestingtal Music School in Austria. Alongside his teaching, he has remained active as a soloist and chamber musician, regularly giving recitals and concerts. His repertoire continues to expand and currently encompasses a wide range of periods and genres, from Baroque to contemporary music.
In 2016 and 2017, Diószegi won First Prize at the International Dinu Lipatti Competition in Rome, as well as the “Zeitklang” Special Prize at the International Klavierpodium Competition in Munich. In 2019, he received a Special Prize at the Hungarian Music Festival in Bucharest.
In the years that followed, he performed numerous solo recitals in major European cities. Through his extensive concert activity, Diószegi has gained considerable professional experience while continually deepening and refining his artistic expertise through high-level piano and chamber music masterclasses. Among others, he participated in the Fontainebleau Summer Academy in 2017 and the Freiburg Summer Academy in 2015, where he had the opportunity to study with internationally renowned musicians including Robert Levin, Peter Donohoe, Bernd Glemser, Eero Heinonen, Jura Margulis, Christian Ivaldi, and Renaud Capuçon.
Through the Sonoro Scholarship in 2015, 2016, and 2018, he also had the opportunity to collaborate with distinguished chamber musicians such as Frans Helmerson, Mihaela Martin, Alissa Margulis, and Diana Ketler.
In summer 2022, Diószegi was selected to work with the renowned pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja as part of the Summer Academy in Salzburg.
He is regularly invited to perform as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Filarmonica Transilvania, the Antonin-Ciolan Orchestra, and the Filarmonica “Ion Dumitrescu” of Râmnicu Vâlcea.
In recent years, alongside his solo repertoire, Diószegi has increasingly devoted himself to song and chamber music. He has engaged himself as a collaborative pianist in numerous vocal lessons, masterclasses, and performances. He has participated in several projects with the Salzburg Philharmonic. Most recently, he has performed song recitals with various singers, including appearances at the Philharmonie Bad Reichenhall.
